Gannon University welcomed approximately 90 of its most accomplished admitted students from 11 states to campus this weekend as part of its Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition, an invitation-only event recognizing academic excellence, leadership and service.
Gannon hosts an annual scholarship contest with up to eight high school seniors earning full-tuition scholarships to the University.
All students will participate in a panel interview with members of the Gannon community and complete a written component. The competition is designed to identify students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential and alignment with Gannon’s mission and values.
“Gannon’s Full-Tuition Scholarship Competition reflects our commitment to recognizing students who combine academic excellence with leadership, character, and a desire to make a difference,” said Randyll Bowen, Ed.D., vice president for Enrollment and Marketing. “This experience gives students and their families a meaningful opportunity to engage with our community and envision how a Gannon education can help them thrive both in the classroom and beyond.”
The competition began on Monday, Feb. 16 in the Waldron Campus Center.
Prior to the competition, guests were welcomed with a reception on Sunday, Feb. 15 in the Yehl Alumni Room.
The reception brought together scholarship finalists and their families—many of whom are traveling to Erie and staying overnight ahead of the competition—for an informal evening of connection with university leadership, faculty, staff and current students.
