Bachelor of Science, Exercise Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy

Exercise Science | Co-Owner, Be Bold Performance and Wellness

For Dr. Jon Wilson, the journey from Gannon University to becoming a physical therapist and clinic owner is one rooted in service, community, and a genuine commitment to helping people move and live without limits. A 2014 Exercise Science graduate, and a 2017 DPT graduate, Jon now co-owns Be Bold Performance and Wellness in St. Petersburg, Florida, a cash-based physical therapy clinic he runs alongside his fiancée. Together, they’ve built a practice centered on personalized care, patient empowerment, and the belief that wellness should meet people where they are.

Jon’s passion for athletics and human performance was evident long before he entered the field professionally. At Gannon, he immersed himself in opportunities beyond the classroom, participating in the National Honor Society, serving on the Ethics Committee, and playing countless rounds of intramural basketball and flag football. These experiences helped shape his competitive spirit, leadership skills, and the strong interpersonal connections that have guided him throughout his career.

When reflecting on his favorite memories at Gannon, Jon didn’t hesitate to say that it was pasta dinners at the church near campus. For him, these traditions were more than just meals; they were moments of friendship, laughter, and the sense of belonging that made Gannon feel like home. It’s a simple reminder that the experiences that stay with us often come from the people and communities that surround us.

Today, Jon channels that same sense of community into his work with patients. He loves that physical therapy offers a wide range of opportunities and pathways, from travel roles across the United States to creating a clinic of your own. His testimonial for future students is clear: the field is limitless, and the right foundation like the one he gained at Gannon can open doors to careers that are both meaningful and self-directed.

Outside the clinic, Jon enjoys staying active through sports like basketball and flag football and spending time outdoors enjoying all that the St. Pete area has to offer. Whether it’s relaxing on the beach, exploring morning markets, or grabbing coffee at a local shop, he appreciates the balance between professional purpose and personal joy.

Looking ahead, Jon sees himself continuing to grow Be Bold Performance and Wellness and deepening his roots in Florida. In five years, he envisions himself still serving patients, expanding the clinic, and further strengthening the business he and his fiancée have built together.

Jon extends a special thank you to Jordie for referring him to the spotlight and remains proud to represent the Gannon community, where his journey began and where he learned that bold steps lead to incredible opportunities.
